Back when business used to take me to different cities, I enjoyed comparing the local traffic reporters’ different terms. Two I remember are “gapers’ delay” and “curiosity slowdown”.

Mike’s right! … and there really should be signs for that!

I hate all these rubber-neckers. They cause such a queue on the roads because their lives are so boring they need to gawk at something that happened, that may freshen up their dull existence. Too much?

There might be another accident if you don’t stop tailgating that semi!

Looks like a permanent sign. Bad stretch of road?

These words are as true today as they were when the first automobiles hit the road.

Reminds me of a time when I lived in the San Fernando Valley in Calif there was flashing sign which read SMOG ALERT on the 101 Freeway on a particularly bad smoggy day. Was like, WHAT?! No kidding, like Californians wouldn’t realize that? Dumbest idea ever.

I hate rubberneckers. I always run into them when they slow down (because I am rubbernecking and didn’t see them slow down).

Must happen pretty often for them to put up a permanent sign.

More accurate for the sign to read, “Caution ahead: Someone failed their driving test.”

I used to travel occasionally to Mexico for work. One time as I was being driven in a highway, we’re doing about 75 mph, and a fire could be seen ahead. As we got closer, a car on the side was fully on fire. The driver was standing about 50 feet from it, waving people to keep moving. No one slowed down at all- we blew by it, and I became even more impressed than I already was by the Mexican way of life. I learned a lot from them.
