If this were a real life happening the owner would be the total idiot. Some dogs experience extreme separation anxiety. A nice comfortable crate provides security for your dog when you are away a SHORT time. If we talking something like 8 hours, either get a outdoor kennel or have someone you TRUST, and the dog likes, to walk him.
