This cartoon could show me sitting next to our next door neighbor when I was about eight years old and he was 91. He was born in 1869, and his father was wounded in the Civil War. For several years whenever possible I would sit with him outside his apartment door and listen to his stories in the warmth of the summer sun. I now realize I should taken opportunities to do that more often.

Someone is a very good boy.

Yeah! Roscoe it’s you. Nelson is in second place? Ha ha!

I never knew the joy that awaited me for all those years, until I held my first grand baby.

I’m new to this comic strip. Where are Nelson’s parents?

Especially since grampas get to spoil kids without the responsibility of actually raising them.

So it seems every dog DOES have his day.

(Not only do we have interesting tales to tell but we tell them (the same ones) over and over and over and…..or have I mentioned that already?)

I assume he means the house is paid off.
