Since Marvin was never successful, they replaced him.

Ping has the upgraded Ilodium Q-49 Modulator. Much more reliable.

He blew it up because it obstructed his view of Venus

I listened to the FG radio serials from the ’30s recently. They were great although Charles Middleton is still my favorite Ming.
