Baseball, swimming, bikes, camping, fishing, mowing yards for spending money, catching fireflies, sparklers/firecrackers/bottle rockets, eating veggies right out of the garden, drinking from the outdoor hose, listing to your AM transistor radio. Why did I ever want to grow up?
I’ll take workin’ 7 days a week over 5 days a week of school anyday of the week!…(it helps that I enjoy my work, tho, and I kinda like my boss. well, I’m self employed, so…lol!)
Every so often, a youngster would comment to me about how they “can’t wait to get out of school.” I always told them not to be in such a rush, because if they screwed up in school, they got to do it, again. Screwing up in life, doesn’t always present the same options.

To me, when school was out, it meant climbing trees, pick-up baseball games and hid-and-seek. OK, I was a tomboy. So sue me. lol

Summer does get boring sometimes. And one always has to be careful of sunburn.
