Forgoing any comedic remarks… a heartfelt thanks to all the teachers.
And to my music teacher Mrs. Patterson in 5th grade, who could be playing piano and turn around and yell at us without missing a note… thanks. That spitball was unnecessary… but hilarious!
I was semi-retired when the pandemic hit. That did it for me, the getting up to speed on the whole “zoom” aspect of teaching (how the heck do you do classroom management?), homework etc. ,it just did me in along with a lot of other teachers. Teachers have it tough. I’m not whining-I got paid well and I enjoyed summers off, but the attitudes of parents projected through their children, administrations that are trying to stay in power, state and federal guidelines and unreal expectations… thank God for the comics!
One of my sisters spent most her working years as a first grade teacher. After retirement, she and her husband came to visit me from 1,000 miles away. We all went out to eat one night and, as we were leaving, a woman on the other side of the restaurant stood up and started hollering “Miss [married name!], Miss [married name!]” … it was one of her former students!! AND my sister remembered her name!!! An unforgotten “Just WOW” moment for all of us …!
