I know a regional joke. If you get it, I can make a good guess where you live. Why did the chicken cross the road? To prove to the possum it could be done.
At one point I had a house sitter. She worked at the local gym, so she was use to keeping places neat. The house was always cleaner than when I left it. She even washed the bed sheets the day I was scheduled to return and remade the bed, I had just asked her to strip it.
We were lucky when we needed a house/pet sitter. A coworker’s 2 teenaged daughters loved our puppy and enjoyed doing it for us. Plus their grandmother lived across the street, making them feel secure. In return I used to take care of her cats, including the 3 litter boxes. All 12 cats.
Why is there such a thing as a “dad joke”? are there “mom jokes”? Do moms not have a sense of humor? I’ve known some really funny and sarcastic moms, but they have been in the minority. Is that a biological thing or a cultural one? The lines are open for discussion…
Arlo sounds just like my dad when I was a teen many, many tears ago! I think it’s a ‘dad’ thing, since my hubby used some of the same verbiage as my dad and grandpa. Boy, do I miss those dad quips! I love when my grands roll their eyes when my hubby /their papa uses the same ones!
Although their natural range in Canada is into southern Ontario and Quebec, and more recently into BC, I can’t say I have ever seen one . I think they are rather shy , and not as common as farther south. Most common road kill in this area is skunks in the Spring or Fall, i saw 3 on my way to work one day. I do know a guy who wrecked 2 cars in 2 weeks hitting deer. And a truck driver who lost the mirror off his rig in Northern Ontario to a Moose. Crazy fact : if you hit a large animal head on causing damage, you are considered at fault, if it runs into the side of your vehicle, you are not.

Why did the chicken cross the road? Because it didn’t like getting wet whenever it crossed the river.

Could have been me in Arlo’s place. To adress the elephant in the room with a joke.

“Why did the chicken cross the road?” “To get to the other side” “Why did the chicken cross the park?” “To get to the other slide” Tee hee

Truth be told, if she’s going to use the property for partying, Arlo has a point.

You know, after all these years of reading this strip, I wonder if Arlo Guthrie ever met Janice Joplin?
