Look, if you Norwegians want a seat at the table for the Engineering Conference, you need o invent something more impressive than the cheese slicer.

”Committee for the French Art Exhibition in Copenhagen”

Tempers at the Committee meeting flare

When two members wrangle for the last chair

Hans and Francois, no love lost between them,

Argued and shouted, and thus ensued mayhem

Long simmering complaints thus filled the air!

    .

Arguments soon became rude and vile,

Mainly as regard female posing style

    (I’m just guessing — I wasn’t there):

While French art (“sl-ts!”) were often bare,

Angelic Danish peasant girls were chaste the while —.

    .

And those French postcards — how salacious!

Female young people with bare ta-tas bodacious!

The French claimed Danes were stuck-up prudes

And were afraid to look at tasteful nudes.

The Danes called out that as fallacious.

    .

Such past controversies were so long ago,

Media now allowed to show all there is to show!

    European nudists cavort ev’rywhere,

    And actresses appear completely bare

Without shame, where anyone can gawk to go …

Committee for the French Art Exhibition in Copenhagen 1888

    Paste (including the quote marks)

    "Category:Meetings in art" Wikimedia

(syntax supported by the Google, Bing, Yahoo, DuckDuckGo, Ecosia, and Yandex search engines) in the browser address bar (or search for it using one of those search engines) and choose the first Category: found, and once there find the text string Krøyer, and click its link for info and links that point to more info about this roughly B1 paper size painting.

Again, a larger strip image is shown by merely clicking the image in Mr. Melcher’s THROWBACK THURSDAY: MASTERPIECE #2116 (1/15/19) (April 24, 2024) blog entry, accessible by the Check out the blog! box after the last comment. I have added a comment there pointing to info about this artist I used to point to here. So far, 11 works by this artist have been used here (13 times total, including a Classic, and this Throwback Thursday repeat), the January 15, 2019, strip being its first use. The December 26, 2016, strip has the prior by him (the other repeat).

When it comes to “reading the room”/

    You’ve simply got to assume/

    That Hans gets it right/

    Because he has the light/

While we others are shrouded in gloom.

Some (most) of the comments from the 01/15/2019 posting:

Strob: “We have diligently searched every name in these volumes, and there are no women qualified to be on this board.”

juncarlo: Anybody bring a cell phone with calculator to divide the bill?

Ontman: Another meeting for population control.

J Short: Go find another seat, this is the mustache end of the table, beard boy.

pcolli: They could only afford one candle.

Huckleberry Hiroshima: Pretty crowded in that non-ventilated room. No wonder no women were around those meetings.

Linguist: JP Morgan was infamous for his game of Executive Musical Chairs.

DM2860: I had to go to a law office to sign for my house. The only empty office was the one with the big conference table. It was one piece and clearly could not fit through any of the doors so I asked how they got it in. When they built the building, they put the table in before they put in the giant window that was on one side of the conference room.

So first order of business is how they will get these big tables in the rooms.

Call me Ishmael: (before being the poet extraordinaire …) “Men in black”. LOTS of men in black.

anomaly: “My wizard casts a light spell and enters the chamber…”

6turtle9: IKEA has a mobius table on sale!

Impkins : The King of Norway explaining that "Der iss no such woid in Norvegian as Arigami!! " :>)
