That makes it difficult to have a non-bias review.

It’s becoming an easy assignment. And a difficult A to get.

I used to visit my daddy at the office all the time. He let me sit in his leather swivel chair and shared his secret stash of chocolate biscuits (cookies). He retired at 53 otherwise the stress would have killed him

My mom was a stay at home mom until she started working PT and my dad took my brother and me to his office once. He was a salesman for NCR back in the 60’s.

Dad was a traveling salesman. I don’t think any of us would have cared to join him for a week on the road. Mom was an office manager and my first real summer jobs were at her office. Jobs were hideously boring but the people were great.

So glad to hear they are home workers! They have quite a brood to look after!

My dad was a carpenter and cabinet maker. He would ‘let’ me come to work with him and ‘let’ me clean up the job sites. Which is kind of how many days in the Summer went by.

That’s a good point, Katy, you can visit both of them at once and maybe get bonus points.

My dad was an engineer/manager. I rarely visited his office, but the company occasionally had open house events. I remember typing my name onto a keypunch machine, and bringing home an IBM card with it punched out. And playing a Star Trek game on a PDP-11.

I still remember making paper clip chains at my father’s office in the 50s. The very cool commuter rail trip? Naaah. Just the paper clips. I din’t realize they let you do that back then…

I imagine this has had an impact on Take Your Kid to Work Day as well…

It’s all about the apostrophe. She needs to see both parents. It would have said “parent’s” instead of "parents.’ "

Good point. If you work from home, I guess Take Your Child To Work Day loses some of it’s mystery.

My father refused to take us to the chemical plant where he worked. Too dangerous, and clearances needed to go into the plant. Mom was home and didn’t want us underfoot. So like many of my classmates, I was at school that day.

I’m guessing the teacher needs to update that lesson plan to deal with today’s realities.

There was no such thing as Take your kid to work day when i was young. (I can’t imagine kids going into the steel mills.) I never was in the building where Dad worked but I think Mom had an opportunity to see the offices at least. This assignment is crazy. Many people have jobs where kids cannot go.

Not noisy. It was usually on a Saturday and we were the only ones there.
