No need for aliens when you have red-eyed bugs with weird life cycles living in your back yard and neighborhood.

Reminds me of the 1967 movie “FIVE MILLION YEARS TO EARTH.”

The Cicadas must have been sleeping in the R.U. Sirius equivalent of Downbelow.

when Yellowstone blows in that expected great pyroclastic event, cicadas and roaches may become the sole surviving species.

He’s late for everything. Do you remember the big awakening of 1837? He missed it entirely!

I have heard from authority that this year’s cicada storm is the result of climate change…

This actually happens. That’s why a few cicadas are found in the off years.

Who can sleep with all that racket going on?

That’s not what they look like when they “awaken”. Of course, they’re actually awake underground the whole time, sucking on roots.

Their “alarms” are set genetically. If you don’t show up on time, there won’t be anything left to eat and you will not pass those genes to the next generation.

He’s not really a morning critter.
