We used to get horse meat for our cats when I was a kid. It was sold ground like hamburger. We did indeed feed it to the cats, but I’ve since wondered about the hamburgers that Mom made during that time frame. I never asked, though.
When I was in Paris (France, of course) I ordered steak for supper. It was horse steak. I ate several mouths full, but found the texture to be too grainy and tough. Then again, it was at burlesque theatre, so I enjoyed the floor show … muchly!
There’s a restaurant/bar here in Holland, MI called Crazy Horse. They have a sign with a big horseshoe and a grinning horse. Really good food. They seem to always be busy.

The only Horseshoe Inn that I frequented was a low level bar with a exotic dancer. Certainly didn’t do burgers.
