Appreciating and valuing nature isn’t a virtue?

The truly superior person does virtue…like appreciating the beauty of the material world.

That’s the hook. We no longer get our spiritual bearings from a teacher, but from books. Of course there are too many of us and too few wise teachers, so it has to be.

It’s OK to have material tings. Just remember they are not the big deal so many make of them. After all, the phone app warned Karma she was going overboard.

I remember when the Islamic State destroyed “The Buddhas of Bamiyan,” two ancient statues of Buddha in Afghanistan. Much of the world was aghast at the destruction of these giant statues of great historic and cultural importance. My memory is that some Buddhist leaders were a bit less outraged, pointing out that their religion downplayed the importance of material objects, including those statues.
