When Hamas is destroyed permanently, and the Iranian ATM is shut down for good—THEN the IDF will leave Gaza!! BTW, how much of that humanitarian aid ever reached Palestinian civilians—and not confiscated by Hamas?
Other than the war comments, that’s the way my class in ‘71 was given our diplomas at SIU-Edwardsville, just "stand up, you’re graduated, sit down." I needn’t (and wouldn’t) have gone for the ceremony had I known it would be like that.
They need to add one of those Ferris Bueller endcredits scenes. The Dean walks out, looks at us, says, “Hey, what are you doing here, the comic is over. Go home.”
Franklin Roosevelttold the people how he felt.We d*** near believed what he said.He said, “I hate war, and so does Eleanor. But we won’t be safe ‘til everybody’s dead.”
Israel would love it if the members of Hamas went to unpopulated areas but they purposely hide among the civilians! When I was a kid we called people who did that cowards!
Fact: Hamas is a terrorist organization, and they were VOTED IN by the Gazans. So by supporting Gaza, you are literally promoting and sponsoring terrorism.
Seeing the protests get out of hand is just a microcosm of the continual unrest in Palestine. Both sides use the tactic of move in with force, then run away and let the resentment build up again. The Arab world abandoned all but lip service to aiding Palestinians years ago (present crisis-aid excepted). After decades, I still see no clear way to resolve the very complex issues involved. I certainly was not prepared to judge them when I was in college.
My daughter graduated at the top of her class 2020. Graduation was over zoom. Not the same as the traditional ceremony, but stuff happens. That said, we were disappointed.
We had a band playing about 20 Elgar marches until absolutely everyone in all the university’s colleges was lined up on the athletics field, then a vague commendation, benediction, and dismissal. The real conferral of degrees took place later in a separate location for each college.
When I was to get my graduate degree at UC Berkeley, we got a note from the Registrar. Something like: Unless you’re an undergraduate with parents who have traveled far to see you graduate, please remember that the Greek Theatre isn’t big enough for everyone who’s graduating, so why don’t you just come to Window 37 of the Registrar’s Office a couple of weeks afterward to pick up your diploma?

Not that a Walden diploma is worth the paper it’s printed on, nor the powder required to blast it to hell.

Pure Doonesbury, except it missed a critical point, the students faces were not covered by masks.

This is the closest Trudeau has come to saying anything remotely good about young people in forever. And he still doesn’t say much.

I wish college protesters were as concerned about a thoroughly corrupt Supreme Court that is hell-bent on dragging us back into the 18th century.

I would think infinitely higher of political commenters on this strip if they weren’t, for the most part, wearing blinders.

Leftist leaning Hamas supporting privileged college kids spread death threats against American citizens as they shout ‘Death To America’.

Does anyone nowadays say “freshman” instead of “first-year student”?
