My best friend’s first car was a 1970 Boss 302 that he got around 1977 or so. He still had it when he passed away from cancer in 2018 at the young age of 55. R.I.P. bro.

If Crunchy is 70 now, he would have been 17 in 1971. Still very young for someone to have bought his first new car.

Reminds me of Lieutenant Provenza on THE CLOSER:

Lt. Provenza: I have a civil service job, and the only way that I am going to leave the Los Angeles Police Department is if I get shot, have a heart attack, and THEN you run me over. After which I will CONSIDER a disability position.

Chief Pope: But you really still haven’t told me WHY.

Lt. Provenza: When my first wife and I divorced, I agreed to split my pension with her from the day I retire. I’ll be darned if she gets a nickel.

    Chief Pope: THAT… I understand.

Wow, I got my first car in 1971 and I retired 6 weeks ago. What a coincidence.
