We were in Glenwood Springs and went into the caves. It seemed like a really normal tour and just as we’re about to exit, the guide tells us to put our ears on the wall of the cave. We all did assuming it was some cool feature of the cave.

The guide asks us what we think we’re listening to. Some reply water and others reply erosion.

The guide tells us we’re wrong and all we’re doing is listening to hard rock.

So we have A holes and D holes. What happened to the B and C holes?

I read that as “D holes” at first. Does that say something about the illustrator, or does it say something about me? We may never know.

The thornbill reminds me: I am revising my idea of corgis as “small” dogs after hearing one bark.

The Thornbill reminds me of the Blue Jays around here, who do an impressive imitation of a hawk. I’m assuming they do it for similar reasons. Here is a video of the Thornbills, and the imitation sounds start around 1:20 into the video:
