I’m surprised Brutus doesn’t brown bag it. I guess that means he would have to make it himself, as relying on Gladys to provide something edible is a long shot
My favorite locally-owned restaurant started charging for refills! They already charge 3.00 for a glass of coke—now it’s 1.50 for refills! I thought they made good profit on drinks already. Some are taking out self-serve fountains. I’m not happy.
Since retiring I don’ have to buy coffee. Make a 12 cup pot and mostly lasts all day. Finally got out my oversized cup and using that. It is a 1887 GURKHA 22oz COFFEE MUG!
Join the Military. Free mud. All you can chew and swallow. Back in the 1940’s WW11 my dad said coffee grounds were recycled. Sure he was right because I got them in 1960’s. Just added some fresh grounds on top of old ones. He said they got a lot of red meat in WW11. Being a farmer – he knew Horse meat. We got a lot of can stuff C – Ration in 1960’s. I wanted the 2 cigarettes. Still smoked well. Canned C- Ration beef was OK, My kids would make a tent over the kitchen table with blankets and camp out. We got a lot of WW11 C -Rations in Greece in 1974/75. Free. Clean out I guess.
There must be some other reason that Brutus uses this diner. It can’t be for the food, prices, or scintillating conversation. And I doubt the waitress is his love child.
You can try that but the customers wont like it and that will be reflected by the new no tipping policy that the consumers will now impose on the waitress who can least afford it. It’s penny wise but multiple dollars foolish. See you later Miss Waitress,,but it won’t be here……
My buddies and I have regular Saturday morning breakfast at a local diner. They used to offer “free coffee” with any meal order. Now it is ala carte but with free refills.
Lately I haven’t seen too many places where coffee is as low as $2,29 as every place I go its at least $3.00 as I can imagine in the big cites it is at least $4.00

I knew a lady who would order coffee and keep getting refills to try to get it down to a nickel a cup. She never succeeded.

I generally hop over to that place that leaves a carafe full of coffee at your table.

Makes me glad that I never got addicted to that stuff.

People go to Starbucks and pay a ton of money for that stuff, just cause they’re are somewhat nice to you…unless you don’t leave a nice tip

It’s best to bring it from home in a thermos.

Local hamburger stand, outside dining. Two hamburgers, small fries and a small shake set me back $23 today.

I had lunch yesterday at an Irving Big Stop, here in New Brunswick, Canada, and got 2 refills of coffee … and excellent service!

The coffee is free. The $2.29 is the cup rental fee for each fill up.

It appears that our hero has decided to eat at a diner owned by Rancid Veeblefester and managed by Mother Gargle.

You are free to complain about the new policy, not that it’ll do any good.
