Don’t look now, Calvin—but “robots” (namely, AI) are already taking over and displacing humans!

Brilliant philosophy! Us Software Engineers are full of such hubris.

It will take more than a spoon full of sugar with this one…

Calvin has a point in his own twisted way. Plus if you get a working robot you’ll never have to make your bed again saving hours and hours. Plus the robot can do all sorts of other things. But then again …

Cats love it when I make the bed. The sheets slowly falling look like a mousie under the leafs. Then I put my hand under the sheet.

Ah, the wisdom of a six-year-old!

Building a robot would be more of an intellectual challenge and therefore more fun. Some of us prefer that over more mundane activities.

Calvin has it about right. Work is doing what you have to do everyday. Newly retired here so I only do what I want now. Huge difference and way more fun!

Or “something” makes you do it…… like having food to eat or a roof over your head… I think the problems we face now in this country, is half of the people who work and pay taxes, pay for the support of all those that don’t work… Which team would you rather be on??

It’s called the “Beetle Bailey” syndrome: expending more effort to avoid work than it takes to do the work.

Any ideas on exactly how GoComics decides which C&H strips to show? They definitely don’t cover the whole run from beginning to end, and I know I’ve seen this one here before.

It amazes me how some people will expend twice the effort in evading a task than would have been required to simply do the task.

More work than making the bed once. Somewhere in the chain the cost gets amortized.

I immediately thought of this arc after reading the strip last Thursday. I hadn’t realized that it came so soon after.

It’s actually quite smart. Not only will the robot make the bed today, but it will make it the rest of Calvin’s life.
