Wow! A handmade pop-up card. That’s great, Kate! I am so impressed.

No comment regarding AI. I don’t want to go there.

Artificial Intelligence is fine. So long as the intelligence is higher than Mr Bean.

From Doctor Who – ‘Robot’ (1974) as the Doctor tries to stop a countdown.

DOCTOR: The trouble with computers, of course, is that they’re very sophisticated idiots. They do exactly what you tell them at amazing speed, even if you order them to kill you. So if you do happen to change your mind, it’s very difficult to stop them obeying the original order, but(countdown stops at 2)

    DOCTOR: Not impossible.

When AI and a 3-D printer are interfaced it will be interesting. In the meantime I’m enjoying doodling on any scrap of paper that will accept pen or pencil.

Poppy! I sometimes wondered if she really existed as I couldn’t remember actually seeing her in a strip. She DOES EXIST! My memory, on the other hand…

It is true that many people look down on handmade. In my family, for decades, we very often made gifts for each other. We would sew, knit, crochet, needlepoint and embroider clothing, afghans, quilts, pillows, Christmas ornaments, whatever, often spending weeks making one gift. Other people would sneer and say how cheap we were not to buy presents, as if the money we spent on materials and the many hours of our time were worthless. We always felt “I made this for you” was more meaningful than “I bought this for you.”

Well done Nancy! When I made cards a while ago I didn’t use the kits, I designed them myself but I couldn’t sell them because I’m timid. Even though prominent people told me privately they were works of art, other people publicly shamed me for asking the amount I was told they were worth. I made each piece by hand.I sold a few to one man who loved the bold colours. I have pictures in IG

A lady I used to work with (we’re both retired) used to make the most amazing 3D cards. I’ve saved the ones she made me.

I kind of miss the old dot matrix printers with the fan fold fed paper that could create banners. I don’t miss the high pitched staccato whine they made as they printed out those banners!
