I used to need precise instructions to cook. I have a degree in Chemistry and little changes can cause big booms in the lab. However, after about 20 years I learned to make ad hoc changes to the recipes. After the Internet came along, I would just Google the contents of my refrigerator for recipes. Now, I’m relaxed enough that I can wait until twenty or thirty “bubble dents” appear in the surface before covering my rice, instead of jumping on it when the first one appears. :)
