I suspect the reason for this whole sequence is that Jim Scancarelli likes drawing cats.
He’s very good at drawing everything.
It looks like Walt decided to have a restaurant-style booth for drinking coffee at home :)
Our kitchen table where we lived in Orlando back in the 1950’s was designed like that.
I’ve always liked the idea of a booth in a home kitchen.
Will the kitchen layout be done different by next week, the way Dick Tracy stories can be done by an ocean, a river, with mountains, in the big city etc, as story needs dictate ?
