There was a short story many years ago about a gadget called a ‘twonky’. In its own proper place in time, it was a useful gadget that made peoples’ lives easier. One accidentally found its way into a 20th century home, where it destroyed the lives of the couple who thought it to be nothing more than a simple stereo console, and it eventually killed them. There was no malice on the part of the device; it was simply an anachronistic situation. The couple didn’t understand the device, or how it was properly used in its own time.
I don’t recall the name of the story or the author, so if this sounds familiar to anyone, feel free to jump in with your two cents (or five, or ten…)
I had one of those before I retired, gave it to my sister and yes it’s now a clothes hanger. After I retired I got fat and ugly, found out that attracts, Cute Girls? Who Knew?
There is such a big variety of clothes hangers and dryers in exercise equipment stores. I’m going to have Babel fish check the origins of the ironic name.

Strangely, these particular clothes hangers are only bought by people with more discretionary money and are overweight.
