Sparklers………the candy corn of fireworks.

I’m fortunate to be able to see lots of fireworks for the next two nights. My home overlooks an island here in northernmost Maine. At least a half dozen homes on the island will be setting off fireworks that I’ll get to enjoy for free.

John Adams said that the 4th should be celebrated with fireworks, so obviously the colonists had access long before independence.

Constitutional republic.

I think EB would understand that the US is a Republic, not a Democracy.

It feels like we’re moving back to a monarchy as our democracy is eroding under this Supreme Court and Presidents are now above the law

Well technically we ended up as a constitutional republic, other former British colonies such as Canada, New Zealand and Australia ended up as democracies.

i had always thought that the fireworks come from the war of 1812 … and the robot must be an undocumented immigrant … seems to know more of our history then we do … that is a clear sign that they were not educated here.
