That happened to me once, a long time ago. I kept getting these confusing notices from Citibank, where my name was printed on the envelope, but the address was handwritten. Finally, I spoke to a bank officer, and it turned out that the notices were for another woman with the same name as mine. Of course, in NYC, there are MANY people with the same names! In retrospect, it’s too bad I wasn’t that person, since she was owed money!!
My (previous) bank kindly gave all my savings to someone with a similar name, in another suburb of my city. They eventually replaced them, with humble apologies (and cash).
And this is how identity theft starts … Happened to my late father … Some slub co-opted my Dads ID, and bought a $50K Cadillac, about $15K in clothes, and a house … For months the credit agencies called my Dad’s house. I was living their, helping to look after Mom & Dad, when a call came in for my Dad … I answered, the caller asked to speak to my Dad, who I’m named for, and I said “This is he” … The caller went on to say that he wanted to speak to my Dad about his account … I said "If this has anything to do with the ongoing fraud investigation about the identity theft of my father, I’m directing you to contact the FBI … There was a long pause, wherein I asked “Can I help you with anything else?”, and the caller said no … The harassing phone calls ceased that day.

I pity the other poor Andrew Capp, he will have to change his name. The bank manager should know Andy by sight, where the hell was he trained!

An obvious mistake. Chalk up another business loss to inexperience.

Who indeed?

The other Capp is thinking someone just stole his identity. Nobody wants our Andy’s identity.

Another? You mean, one.
There is another Andy Capp, but only one with an excellent credit rating.
I can’t believe I have to teach basic English to native speakers.
Then again, I’ve spoken with enough of them that I really shouldn’t be surprised, after all.
