For a split second, Calvin probably thought Hobbes was about to knock him back to the principal’s office.

You’d think he’d be expecting this by now.

I love when Hobbes jumps Calvin. I love to see his little shoes fly off. Love this cartoon.

Goodness, I don’t know what Calvin’s fussing about. All Hobbes did was help Calvin remove his shoes at the front door in an expedient manner. How else is he supposed to remove both shoes at one time?

Cal’s imaginary ‘reception’ by Hobbes is his counter to being in school all day and missing Hobbes. Imagination can make a cloudy day brighter.

Calvin’s right. There will be some ruckus once his parents learns how “swell” Calvin’s first day of school was…

Calvin plans to open with a ruckus and escalate to a kerfuffle! Hopefully he won’t have to open a can of ‘Whoop A$$’. BTW, Whoop A$$ was the name of an energy drink.

This probably looks a little better than “Fight Club” where the narrator is beating himself up.

30 years ago…

Livening things up sometimes becomes a necessity.

Hobbes to the rescue! He instinctively knew that Calvin needed a giant kerfuffle to get him out of his post-schoolday funk.

Just what Calvin needed after a rough day at school.

Even for a daily strip, the artwork in every single panel is so impressive, detailed and funny. Watterson is definitely one of the great comic strip artists of all time.

First “I’m Home” tiger pounce attack of the school year!

It’s alright when you dish it out, but you can’t take it, correct Calvin.

I’ve often wondered how this appears to Calvin’s Mom.

Hobbes just lays around when Calvin isn’t there. He gets bored.

Watterson’s drawings are extremely animated and awesome. Each panel is like a live action film clip on pause.

Pfft. Hobbes only got Calvin’s shoes off…when Charlie Brown gets nailed with a line drive, he’s down to his pants…

There’s more action in panel 3 than in most action-adventure movies

Don’t expect an “I miss you” hug from him, Hobbes.

Tigers are so much fun ! ;-)

If Calvin can take on a “Man-eating” tiger with his bare hands, why does he have any issue with his playground nemesis, Moe?

I have seen how that ended up

Poor Hobbes has to hold his enthusiasm in all day!

It is a great feeling when a real cat greets you when you arrive and continues to be friendly after being fed. :)

uh oh! a six year old is mad, and oh my god! i’m never seen someone use scissors like that!

Cheer up Cal. This furball is lot more fun than that principal and Mrs Wormwood.

Hobbes is probably thinking that it’s nice to get back into a routine.
