Well, they are starting with something easy. And important for any cook — clean pots and pans.

I vividly remember the dishwashing lesson back in my 7th grade cooking class. The teacher was more than a little old-fashioned. Her hard-and-fast rule for dishwashing was “Never wash dishes in a sink. Use two large basins”. You can imagine how well that went over.

Beef Wellington isn’t that hard. Hardest part as I remember it was finding the foie gras

I feel like the teacher read some clickbait article, like “10 Ways You’re Washing Dishes WRONG That Actually Make Them Dirtier,” and is now trying to prevent that from happening.

Making food hot is only a very small part of cooking. There’s cleaning, shopping, cleaning, prep, cleaning, cleaning, preparing, cleaning, presenting, cleaning. Then cleaning.

Children should be taught to wash dishes as soon as they can reach the sink. It’s not THAT difficult.

Basics. That’s a good thing. Too many people think they’re above washing the dishes but it’s an important part of prep and cooking. “Clean as you go” is much less exhausting than a big mess when you’re done.

I think that’s what we learn first, too! When I had cooking class in 7th grade.

Back in Jr high, that’s how they taught us (1980s). Thank God for dishwashers. I wouldn’t be without one…worth every penny.

If I recall the “Star Wars Holiday Special” the order should be stir, whip, stir, whip…
