Sadly, this scenario is true to life. There are thousands of scammers who try to fleece the elderly. But in this case, I gotta feeling that Baby Tiger will somehow expose that “snake-oil salesman” as a fraud—unless they’re in cahoots!

Since he will have to submit an itemized estimate to the insurance agent, he probably won’t be able to bamboozle Walt.

Either Walt is getting a bit “funny” or he does not know much about chain saws! BTW I never heard of them having extra mufflers!

Nelson is actually a toothpick manufaturer, and the tree removal will t ake some extra time……

Mel Blanc used to voice Woody Woodpecker…maybe Walt should call him instead

    From today’s Comics Curmudgeon:

There’s a new cute cat in Gasoline Alley that Gertie found and brought to Walt! You can see he’s already getting adjusted to his role in this strip (coquetteishly mugging to the reader as the human characters make extremely uninteristing wordplay at one another).

I think Gertie should be making the household decisions.

It is always sad when someone who doesn’t have a sense of humor tries to write something funny. Then you get something like today’ strip. Like Biden, it is time for Jim to ride off into the sunset.

…You are in a strip called Gasoline Alley. The background of your premise for decades has been built around the automobile. You very well could have helped start America’s car obsession which is killing the planet. You do not get to make “jokes” where your last original character fails to recognize a word that every human being believes is first and foremost a car part!

Occasionally when reading these strips I like to imagine an alternate universe where there are still enough people buying newspapers for there to be kids reading the funnies page. Then I wonder what those kids would get out of the last few strips, in which most of the ‘joke’ is based on the assumption you’ll recognize a guy who likely died before our hypothetical child’s parents were born. I even polled my own mom and dad, and if they’re any indication, even our hypothetical child’s grandparents only recognize him as the basis for a bit character in The Simpsons. I guess things being completely baffling is the whole reason I keep coming back to GA, but even by my usual standards for the strip, Mr. Nelson’s recurring role is puzzling.
