I believe it was in Mad Monstrosities that Al Jaffee told the story of a gap-toothed boy who fed hot peppers to an elephant in the zoo and laughed uproariously, which the elephant remembered, and remembered, and remembered, until one day he saw the exact same build, exact same hair, exact same shirt and sprayed the guy with water. Wrong guy. Then an old white-haired man in a raincoat fed him hot peppers and laughed uproariously, showing his gap-toothed grin.
