was a navy electrician’s mate, worked on the CAPT’s and pilots’ elevators. the best way to troubleshoot one is to climb in and “see what happens”. i’ve had my fill of climbing elevator shafts. i take the stairs whenever possible.
I recently stayed at a hotel in Rome that had an old fashioned elevator with outer and inner doors. I stepped into it one morning and reached out to close the hinged outer door when the inner door closed on my wrist. I escaped the completely unprovoked attack with a few scratches.
When I was in college, there was an elevator-packing event that resulted in one death and an elevator full of people psychologically scarred for life. Respect!
I’ve had my troubles with small elevators. One got stopped mid-level. I let it slowly take me down to the a lower level. Then I had to crawl to the next level. I didn’t ever make it to the high level but settled for a sub-level where I was able enjoy the festivities from afar. I have bad knees, you see. Life is tough, sometimes. And I ran jogged and ran plan in soccer, then refereed soccer for 30 years during all that time and now I can’t even walk. What’s more, What’s more, my kidneys are making just standing difficult. But, the swelling is subsiding and things are getting better.
I have always been a person who worries about everything and what could happen and I always hated when I had to take an eleveator because 1) I was afraid I would be the only one in it and it would just stop and I wouldn’t know what to do and 2) I was also afraid that I would be going on an elevator or already on one and the only other person was a sketchy looking person and I was afraid something would happen. But, now that I can’t do stairs anymore I have to put my fears aside and get on the elevator and just pray it will go up and down and open when it should. With my health being bad the only time I go out is to doctors appointments and I have been having my Dad take me because I don’t like to drive anymore and with the venous status in my right leg and foot it is getting harder for me to lift them to get in drivers seat so it is easier to get in passenger side first, so if there is any elevator he is with me and we have been using a wheel chair supplied by docots offices because it is hard for me to walk too far wven with my walker.

It’s tricky using the elevator shaft without one.

He can fly you know. I’ve seen most of the strip flying at one time or another. Except Roz. I don’t think I’ve ever seen her fly though.

There was a broken escalator at the mall yesterday. Took me a minute to figure out how to get to the next level.

Escalators are never broken. They just become steps

I told my contractor that I didn’t want carpet on the steps. He gave me a blank stare

1948, my father, who worked at WE in New York, took me up to the restaurant on top of the Empire State Building. Elevator ride wasn’t fun.

I hate riding in those all glass elevators. Especially the ones on the outside of buildings.
