That leaves me… not exactly motivated, but at least thinking about doing something awesome.

I learned two things. Who Mo Rocca is, and also that “Peter Mark Roget began working on his thesaurus in his twenties and completed it at seventy-three (because sometimes finding the right word takes time.)” So Roget and Rocca all come together. Thanks Jef and Frazz Comic.

Mo Rocco’s books are a wonderful reflection of lives and offers the reader/s hope. And they’re a fun read for his editorial comments!

This motivates me to read something other than the comics.

Actually, I’m not all that motivated.

Very interesting and enlightening. Seems I have about another 2 years to get something done. Think I’ll take a nap and think about it later.

The only Little House book I could get through when I was a kid, presumably was because it was the only one about a boy, was Farmer Boy. I started Little House in the Big Woods this year, but now it’s below my reading/tolerance level.

Ok, I’ll admit, I had no idea in which direction to read to follow the conversation or the flow of today’s comic….

If you read Roget’s, you might feel regrets. Also misgivings, qualms, remorse, contrition….

Interesting in view of his claim (2024/08/07) that he was unmotivated to do summer reading because he didn’t like to be told what to read. So even given free rein he chose to leave it late. Perhaps he doesn’t have as much self-knowledge as he thinks.

I used to leaf through our copy of Roget’s, and Bartlett’s Quotations. Think of them as highlight reels.

Summers were longer when I was in school. Classes didn’t start until after Labor Day and were dismissed before Memorial Day – back when Memorial Day was still on the 31st of May and not the last Monday.

I never had a summer vacation that long. It was July and August, with maybe a week on either side. We went back the Wednesday after Labour Day. So, summer was 62 days plus a few, meaning only about 65 – 70 days on average. I hope to live longer than that!

I had no idea that “Angela’s Ashes” debuted as recently as 1996. I thought it was already old when I was in school.

So obviously, I’m the answer to “Who wouldn’t?”

I’m also reading Roctogenerians. It was fun to read this strip and realize how it tracked with the chapter on authors.

Jef’s comics are always good. But sometimes they are just brilliant. They make you think first, then they make you laugh. I know Mo Rocca from his guest panel appearances on “Wait, Wait, Don’t Tell Me”, but haven’t read any of his books. I will add them to my list. If you haven’t read any of Frank McCourt’s books, my favorite is Teacher Man. Since I am a parent, I have read the whole “Little House” series to my children.
