Apparently I didn’t fully empty my pot day before yesterday and yesterday morning at 3 am my pot ran over. Made a small puddle on the counter. Maybe half a cup. I can just see the headline, “Homeowner Dies Tragically Due to Stupidity”

I learned the hard way to never put a ceramic cup in the microwave unless it says “microwave safe”. I used to put my favorite cup (that didn’t say it was microwave safe), with the milk for my coffee, in the microwave to warm up the milk for 30 seconds. It worked fine for several years. Until I find that the microwave blew off a small chunk of the cup’s lip.

The elf that operates your microwave has obviously rejected your sacrificial offering.

You’re a Plugger if you reheat the coffee, drink and don’t complain.

I usually start out with “Who left the coffee in the microwave?” Then transition to – “Oh yeah, it had to be me the wife doesn’t drink coffee, and no guests for a couple of days.” And then to – “hmmm – when did I do that? Yesterday, maybe two days ago? Oh well” Then I stick it back in push the reheat button for coffee and stand there til it’s done so I don’t forget again.

You’re not a real plugger unless you go ahead and drink it. :)

A guy on third shift microwaved popcorn and set timer for 10 minutes and waited for popping to stop. Worked fine until one time he fell asleep and awoke to smoke and the “popcorn” resembled black styrofoam brick. No amount of scrubbing and deodorizing could save the microwave.

I’ve put down, and forgotten my coffee cup, and my Buck knife, and my Leatherman tool more times than I care to recall … I can so relate to this … :)

Some 40 plus years ago we got married. I used to drink coffee but had stopped by then as my stomach could no longer take black coffee. Husband has never liked coffee and so did not/does not drink it.

For our wedding (maybe engagement – makes more sense?) a neighbor of his parents – the husband owned a business delivering coffee supplies to businesses – gave us a Mr. Coffee type coffeemaker. We thank him graciously and put it away. We got married and moved all the gifts plus most of our other stuff into our apartment.

We invited some friends we had gone to college with to be our first guests in our apartment. All are sitting in the living room talking. We are in the kitchen with the instruction book to the coffee maker “discussing” what we are suppose to do.

Apparently our discussion got a bit loud as they came into the kitchen and found it terribly funny that we were following the directions in the instruction manual as neither of us knew how to make coffee. They did help us. And yes, all these decades later we are all still friends. I have no idea where the coffeemaker is – I think it died or else it’s somewhere in the basement as we haven’t had anyone in the house for quite some time.
