Gender reveal was never a pre-birth occurrence in my time.

The pilot is in the pink, you might say, but not in a good way!

There might be some reference to a Creation Myth, in which father Sky joins with mother Ocean … to form Mother Earth. And thence the pink Primordial Soup to eventually populate the Earth… that could be stretching things a mite, though …

Whew, pink! I initially went darker. I thought it was Amelia Earhart.

Looks purple to me…usually, that means a boy & a girl twins, although now that would be shown with a “surprise baby reveal #2”

I’m sorry I took off my pants at your gender reveal party. I thought everyone was participating.

I think gender reveal parties are bizarre. You are celebrating your future kid’s genitalia. It’s just…icky.

Now the water is full of gas and oil. THAT’S good for the fish and plants and whatever else lives in or on the water.

Already done with the wing coming off a plane doing a smoke trail in Mexico and some stupid couple coloring a waterfall and poisoning a town’s water supply.

Something like that actually did happen with a helicopter. It wasn’t on purpose, and ended in tragedy.

Wow… gender reveal parties have really gotten out of hand! I didn’t do any during my first few pregnancies, but with my surprise baby, I did make cupcakes and filled them with the appropriately colored sprinkles and made a video as we no longer live near any family. Also, my older kids loved it.

We shall name her Ariel.

My daughter, whose oldest is now 7, commented to me a while back that it seemed so weird to her to NOT know the sex of the child before it was born! I mentioned that it has been that way for thousands or more likely millions of years, certainly when she was born (1987). Finding out whether the baby is a boy or girl when it is born is a time honored celebration, and the first thing that someone else would ask about unless they’re told first!

It’s a “sex-reveal” party — sex is biological, gender is socio-psychological and not evident before (or at) birth. Words matter.
