I’m in my 70’s and I still miss my grandmas cooking. I even have her recipes box but it’s never quite the same.

I agree, I’m 72 and miss my grandmothers cooking too. She was a little German lady and the best cook. My favorite was her Sauerkraut and beef rib with potato dumplings and mashed potatoes. Then to top it off she made great big homemade rolls. Wonderful. When my sister and I would go up we always asked for it and she was glad to make it but we had to chop the cabbage for the Sauerkraut. Well worth it. The Sauerkraut you by at the store taste completely different.

My brother, who should know better, repeatedly try to turn down an offer of sandwiches “to take home”, at the reception after our mother’s funeral service in Dallas. After ten minutes, I took him aside and told him, “Take the sandwiches or we’ll never get out of here.” We were able to leave quietly (with half a dozen sandwiches) a few minutes later.

I actually never cared for any meals either grandmother cooked… one was German, the other Polish. (having said that, I do like a good beer with brats!)
