Dad’s ancestors ran from wooly mammoths, but Wanda’s ancestors hunted them.

Funny, it’s the same thing we said about our parents.

They actually had to use a phone attached to a wire with a thing called a dial, and their TV had no remote, and only 3 stations!

And we did math.

I’m in my 70s, we had croquet when I was a kid!And we had t.v. with several channels, an antennae, and us kids were the remote!

Now, Zoe. You don’t know how old your parents are!

I remember when I was kid it was uphill to school both ways!

I think all kids think their parents are as old as dirt and dumber than a box of rocks. And within hours of being out on their own, the kids wonder how their parents learned so much so fast.

Well of course croquet is fun at your age. As you two have demonstrated the mallets are just the right height to rest your chins on.

Their parents had to walk 15 miles to school everyday in the snow.

Ah yes, the good old days…

What is it with people thinking the current generation doesn’t know anything about the things you guys had? I had a box tv with no remote for years. I’m 15 and have called on a dial phone more times than I can count and actually have one in my house. Most kids my age don’t think it all that surprising phones had cords at some point, because older people will never stop reminding us about it.

Their parents are so old that when they were kids “The Flintstones” hadn’t even been invented yet…..

Maybe they ran away from the northern white rhino? That one’s going to join dinosaurs and mammoths when the last two specimens, both females, die.

According to Wikipedia (yeah, I know) there are only two species of mammals that have truly gone extinct since this strip debuted in 1990. One is a rodent and the other is a tiny bat. While Darryl and Wanda may have run away from them, it wouldn’t have been very dramatic.

Back before God invented wood…

I remember thinking we’d have flying cars by the year 2000…it seemed so far in the future back then lol!

To correct a possible mis-comprehension, all TVs could receive 13 different stations. But in any given broadcast area there were only three available, ABC, CBS and NBC. IF you were luck in an appropriate area you might be able to effectively receive another channel from a different area. That’s how we watched wrestling on Saturday evenings.

But those mammoths were fast!

In 7th grade my phone no. was only three digits long.

Kirkman and Scott come up with some brilliant lines sometimes. This is one of my favorite strips.
