So, the scorecard on this is

Brad is bad because he was trying to clean house while watching Shannon and didn’t know what to do when she had a melt-down.

Nancy is good but all she had to do was spend time entertaining Shannon.

Toni is good because coming home from work all she had to do was entertain Shannon.

Conclusion: Kids are easy if all you have to do is entertain them. Get someone else to do the housework.

    Peenominal!

Little Johnny’s sittin in clas an he has to use the bathroom real bad. He puts his hand up an tells th teacher he has to to the bathroom.

Teacher says OK, but you have to recite the alphabet first. So little Johnny starts reciting th alphabet.

    ‘A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J, K, L, M, N, O, Q, R, S, T, U, V, W, X, Y, Z.’

‘Very good Johnny, but where’s the P?’

    ‘Runnin down my leg..’

Looks like Toni is ready. Fine – but nevertheless let’s not forget the rest of the cast. I don’t have patience for Brad & Toni and pregnancy for the next 12 months.

    Okay.

So does Toni mean that she’s ready to be a “Mom” now?

Or does she just want Brad to Dispose of Shannon’s “spoiled” PJ’s? ;-)

There just happened to be a plastic bag in the bed room to put the jammies in? I’m sure Toni could have found dry places where she could hold them.

I do see a pregnancy in their future. But not for a while. Perhaps by the end of the year. Might be a wonderful Christmas present for the DeGroots.

I love how you can’t tell if Toni is asking Brad if he wants to wash the pajamas or if he wants to get busy having kids. They were right, having Shannon stay for a month is helping them figure out a lot about what kind of parents they could be. It was a great idea.

On top of everything else, Shannon is a bed wetter?? Well, of course she is.

But who puts soiled laundry in a plastic bag? That is really, really weird. Any normal person just takes it directly to the washing machine. Unless, they were dripping with pee, then you would have a large bundle of pee pants AND sheets to take to the mashing machine, it still wouldn’t go in a plastic bag.

Toni really knows how to blow it. Shannon was supposed to be going to sleep, but she turned it into a big tickle party that made Shannon pee her pants. Shannon would have then needed a bath and clean clothes, and then the bed would have needed cleaning and fresh sheets. Geez.

I don’t think Toni will be pregnant anytime soon. She is good with Shannon, but she still doesn’t want kids.

I had a female pal. She totally never wanted a kid. She & her husband had a whoops baby. Most of her pregnancy she was worried about become a Mom (she had an awful Mom). She had a long & difficult delivery. She collapsed in exhaustion. After she woke up she asked the nurse to bring the baby. The nurse returned & handed her the baby. Later her husband told me that she stared at the baby. She looked up to her husband & said “I can do this!”.

If she’s handing over the soiled pj’s to Brad for washing, I’m disappointed. He just spent a week cleaning and washing. There’s no reason she couldn’t rinse out the pj’s or put them in the washer. Seems Toni wants the fun parts of parenting, but not all the work. Hope I’m wrong, but……

So what we have seen is that what ever his shortcomings, he does love Shannon, and Shannon loves her dad. But she has always known she was missing out on something causing her to act out. Brad is the male figure she already has and brings nothing new to her experience which she wants. He is just a baby sitter. Suddenly Shannon has experienced the " snuggling motherly side", first by Nancy and then by Toni. Toni knows how she feels because she lost her parents at a young age and was raised by an aunt who never showed the intimacy she had remembered or hoped for. This has definitely been a turning point for them both. Shannon now has a motherly figure to look to, and Toni will take a more hands-on approach with Shannon and tutor her brother, while also gaining the confidence to take the next step with Brad.
