Our Doxie can hear faint sounds. Unusual sounds set her off. When she barks I usually find out why she is alarmed. Mostly walkers in front or walkers in the alley.
In the early 1800s lead miners in southwestern Wisconsin were too busy digging the “gray gold” to build houses. Like badgers, they moved into abandoned mine shafts for shelter. It became a fitting description of the hardworking settlers of the Wisconsin Territory, & Wisconsin became known as The Badger State.
