Personally, I rather like to let the Trolls spew. It gives me a chance to unload facts on them, and to help educate those who are undecided and trying to understand why voting for Donald Dump and his MAGAt Chorus is a losing proposition, whether he wins or not.
Reading through the literature on pyromania and substituting troller for pyro seems to work.

‘National Geographic Magazine’ briefly printed a Letters from Readers section a few years ago. It tried to print comments on both sides of issues. It quickly took on a nasty tone from adamant science deniers who boldly thought political views should trump data accumulated through years of research data.
I have a subscription to NGM back to 1962. It was most unpleasant to read — as if turning the page to come across poison ivy mixed with broken glass. It seemed as if polluted miasma arose.
This was a time, also, when National Geographic and its various science and entertainment divisions were on the brink of being sold to Fox. So there was a lot of irritation simmering on both sides.
Good morning, boys and girls. It’s a beautiful day here on the Southcoast of Massachusetts. If you can, get out and soak up some Vitamin D. If my legs feel OK, I’ll go for a stroll.
HA HA HA HA! Especially on some of Wiley’s. I mean, flaming comments are one thing, but some of the flames are like hellfire! Well, allowing for the fact that some words are censored.
The decision to disable comments on the editorial cartoons was cowardice on steroids. Yes, trolls are stupid on steroids (and in some cases on meth), and should be ignored completely. But comments by worthwhile people out-numbered comments by trolls.
Heard recently that comments all over the internet are now being made/generated by computers using AI….think about it…..all your vitriol spewing being wasted against a computer somewhere……yuk,yuk,yuk…..maybe I’m a computer…..
GC certainly has no obligation to allow comments but they have clearly taken away something that most people found entertaining and maybe informative. I wonder if there was pressure from the right to end the practice or maybe the majority of comments were not in line with upper management’s political views.
Use to write an editorial about once a week to the various papers, if an article solicits a position on a subject then there should be comments allowed; if they are not they are not worth visiting or supporting; lived in enough foreign countries to recognize the various gimmicks employed when dictatorships are developing.

It sounds to me the legal department got cold tootsies. This is a site dedicated to cartooning. It should THRIVE on anarchy, not fear it.
