I think it was more like the ’80s

I can close my eyes and still smell the cigarettes. That used to make me so nauseated!

I especially hated the cigarettes and especially if I was on the row right behind where it went from smoking to non-smoking.

Sigh… Times were so much simpler back then…

Also checking your baggage at the sidewalk before going into the terminal.

You used to walk out and get on the plane like getting on a bus.

More knee room, and they fed you a nice lunch. And back a few more years the stewardess wore skirts.

funny…I flew in the 90’s and never saw any of that… (thank goodness!)

too bad people with explosives in their shoes and underwear ruined it for the rest of us…

It all went bad when the Wright Brothers stopped serving hot meals.

In the 60’s maybe, but not in the 90’s.

And being invited into the cockpit to meet the pilots.

US weapons restrictions were definitely early 1970s due to hijackings. In the Mel Brooks movie High Anxiety (1977), Mel Brooks and Madeline Kahn dress up as an old couple and stage a loud argument to distract the security people when the gun he is carrying sets off the metal detector at the airport.
