I have an account on Facebook for the sole purpose of getting in touch with distant relatives, otherwise I don’t use it. I guess for some people, it’s addictive like Candy Crush is for smart phone users.
Goes along with respecting and deferring to one’s elders. I find them in very short supply. Getting more so as time goes on. As does the reduction in my caring what anyone thinks about me and the way I look. If they don’t like the way I look, look somewhere else.
Sometimes I think cartoonist are the most artistic realm around. They have to draw the little things, such as where to put a hand or a facial expression before the major part of the cartoon. I am looking at her hand covering her mouth and realize that has to be drawn before the facial concern expression she is showing with her glasses. He has to see the entire comic in his mind before ever laying his pen to the paper.
I’m often befuddled by the stuff people DO put on social media wanting expecting people to think well of them. But they just look silly to strangers all over the world.
A couple weeks ago in Walmart, i was texting someone on Messenger, lull in the conversation, noticed a lampshade not far away so I added a photo to her…

I long ago learned to ignore what I might imagine people were THINKING. What matters is actions… not even words.

To be truly cool, you must not care what others think of you. Therefor, old folks are the only truly cool people.

Let’s put this in perspective. If James Dean said he doesn’t care what people think of him, Mabel would swoon over what a rebel he is.
