I have a record player and it will burn the music to a CD. I don’t have any way to play a cd except in the DVD player. I used to take my tunes with me on a memory stick, but that old car stereo is gone and the new one is easy: I just tell it to play my playlist that is somewhere out there in cyberspace.
I still have a lot of vinyls and several turntables to play them on. I even have a bunch of 78s and 45s. I dig them out when I’m feeling nostalgic. Same with my 8 track tapes and cassettes.
My old record player is behind boxes and such I’m too lazy and tired to move. My slightly newer record player (and dubber-onto-CD-er) is buried under more debris. I have no place to put a new-new turntable and / or speakers.
There are lots of great turntables both new and pre-owned to be had. That’s just silly. (’course one would also need an amp, or receiver … a nice pair of bookshelf speakers or towers or a really good pair of headphones…)
Still working with a late 70’s Denon turntable. My claim to being a plugger stems from actually seeing Pink Floyd perform the album live back on June 9, 1975. Still have the ticket stub.
I had over 350 albums and as many CD’s (many dupes in the “new” format). I uploaded them all to Apple Music and now can carry it all in my pocket to listen to them anytime, often in a lossless or Dolby Atmos format. I sold them all and really don’t miss dedicating all that space and equipment to it. And a pair Sonos speakers fills the room very nicely with what ever I choose. Although I can’t quite rattle the walls with volume (yet).
15 yrs ago, when cleaning out Dad’s garage after he passed, I ‘almost’ threw out his stereo system. Turntable, 8-track, cassette, and AM/FM radio. It’s sitting in my basement work area, working just as well as it did 50 yrs ago.

Vinyl is making a comeback. Unfortunately, quality turntables aren’t. Victims of ‘Made in China’.

After 36 years in IT and constant noise, I really value silence.

You can get good quality turntables made in the US, but they will be more expensive. I bought one. Worth every penny too.

Got a record player or two, just never have the time to hook it up and convert the records to digital.

I wonder what percentage of the readers recognize the album cover.

Nope. Still use my mid-eighties Technics SL-1200 direct drive.

I still have all my LP’s, and I can play them on my Garrard DD75 turntable from the late 1970’s (made in England). Guess I’m not a plugger.

Great album. One of the very best.

My son acted like he discovered Pink Floyd while in college in 2005. “Dad, have you heard of them?”

You rush to a thrift store, they have players usually or a yard sale.

Plugger can hear the sound of the ringing cash register, should he sell his records?

At least there are still turntables out there. VCRs for those old tapes is a bigger problem.

You all know you can stream all this stuff via Apple Music and other platforms?
