    Well, yes.

But, if it works, (and it almost certainly will) you’ll find it lessens many problems! You might even find you will enjoy school.

Okay, that last one is kind of a long shot, but you never know!

Kevin might not be great at school but his BS detector is on point.(Okay, okay, it’s not actually BS, this is stuff that will actually help him unlike most homework, but I get where he’s coming from.)

Not extra homework, more like extended batting practice. You will see yourself getting better.

“Tools and tricks” might be a good way to put it to interest him. Kind of like telling him he’ll have a secret code of his own!

Many years ago my Mom thought that I had a problem reading. She sent me to an eye doctor in Montreal who diagnosed me with an eye block. I would read only part of a sentence and would have to go back to re-read it. What he prescribed was interesting. It was an apparatus that you looked down through the sight, and had a picture clipped on the side and a piece of paper on the bottom. You were to draw the picture on the paper. The first one was a basic scooter. Let’s just say that the scooter looked like it was hit by a vehicle. The base and wheels were in one spot and the handle bars were in another. After months of retraining my eyes, it worked.

No kid at that age would say “be straight with me, doc”. Most would probably cuss him out. Or their teacher. Oof.

There have been great strides in diagnosis and treatment of these disorders to help the kids suffering from them.

Kevin from one dyslexic to another, unfortunately you will have to sit down after school with a tutor and do more work to overcome your problem. I also was diagnosed with mild dyslexia in the 1980s in First Grade. Overcame it for the most part so if treated early there is hope.

I’ve been reading this comic for awhile, but I had to make an account on here just to express how much this particular story line is warming my heart. My bro has dyslexia and as soon as Kevin mentioned to Miles how he was seeing words I was like I know what this is! I can’t wait to see this story play out more!

No No! Why give more of the same thing a kid can’t do in school? Extra homework is NOT helpful without teaching the child how to decode the words, how to comprehend the text, and make sense of reading using learning strategies. THEN practice at home.

It is called CBT or Cognitive Behavior Therapy. They are skills you can use to manage neural conditions. I use it for my ADHD and they help me get through the days, especially when ADHD meds are more or less rationed because of shortages.
