    A lot of people compare school to prison, especially at certain times.

    It’s not only students, but it can be teachers and principals also —usually from different perspectives.

    “Oh, you had the nice teacher?”

    I liked most of my teachers and the classes. It was some of the students that could ruin a day.

    Pretty much my story … the classroom phone rings, the teacher hangs up and announces to the whole class, “Tom, the Principal would like to see you.” Ironically, after college I worked 33.5 years for Ma Bell and learned how to pull the correct telephone switching machine card to turn this off for my boys.

    ….and don’t forget the “sisters”! They spelled it “mercy”. We spelled it “misery”.

    I’ve always thought that those who complained about attending school should be put to work digging trenches and doing roadside maintenance for 8 hours a day. A few would thrive but the rest would beg to go to school. :-}

    One year in high school, a guy in my class decided to talk with a Russian accent. “Duvall” never broke character the whole year
