I don’t know why, but I always thought the reincarnation started at the bottom of the food chain and that we worked our way to the top – a long journey – as we learned how to be our best soul. Of course that means we could be reincarnated next as bacteria or viruses!

Even though I’m an atheist, it’s still nice to occasionally fantasize about karma. Justice in the next life if not in this one, and all that.

Not following or even believing in any of the gods has nothing to do with believing in the possiblity of reincarnation. That is a belief fairly common among hunter-gatherer and horticultural peoples and although they tend to believe in ancestral spirits and/or natural power-beings they aren’t necessarily deist.

If at first you don’t succeed, you better hope you can try again.

I just think of all of those people who will feel so silly when they wake up after they are dead to find out there is no afterlife.
