My father was a door-to-door salesman during the Depression and he did quite well. He and a partner had a scam going they would make a sale of a vacuum cleaner. Later the other one would return and offer the prospect a “new and improved model”. In addition, the prospect was offered a nice trade-in for the old model. They cleaned up.
Makes me think of the Twilight Zone episode “One for the Angels” whereby a sidewalk pitchman is given an opportunity to give a final sales pitch to the Angel of Death before he is taken away. A heartfelt episode to be sure.
One thing I will always give my father credit for. In 1980 the engineering company he worked for folded (there was a big recession going on) and he couldn’t find a job. He resorted to selling vacuum cleaners door to door to keep us fed. He was not a perfect father, but he was dedicated.

I think we have at least 5 battery powered and one corded vacuum cleaners. I miss the old 5 amp, 7 amp, 8 amp vacuums.

Dust in Heaven? Electric outlets available? Is money used up there? Seems to me the first rule of the sales game is to know your market.
