Whoa! Oh no! While he may say being in low is why he’s notslow, others would say though, that they know that it’s because he’s always in low that he’s always slow.
Reminds me of that song from the fifties about a Nash Rambler racing a Cadillac in which the Rambler finally pulls up alongside the Caddy, the driver rolls down the window and says "Hey buddy. How do get this car out of second gear?
At least Joe was not shot at by 2 of his own formerly adoring supporters. Too be honest the second Republican waited 12 hours in the bushes, by the golf course, but never did take a shot before being scared off by security.
I drove a delivery truck for a while where first gear was great….if you needed to climb a tree. Unfortunately, second gear was stripped and would only stay in gear briefly. So the drill was to use first gear to sort of get the truck moving, shift to second and accelerate as best you could until it popped out of gear and then slam it into third and hope you had enough momentum to keep the whole thing moving.

The last panels of today’s strip remind me of Batman and Robin “climbing” up the side of a building in the old TV series.

You have more power in low gear.

That, John, plus the fact that (a) you’re older, and (b) you’re going up what looks like a very steep hill.

That conserves your energy for the long climb ahead since there is no rush in getting to the top.

So the turtle has a four on the floor under the shell. I can see he also has quadra traction 4X4. and no politics for that guy.

That would mean he can climb a hill as fast as he walks a plain, so… faster than most.
