I wasn’t sure she was going to give that beer up! I may be the only one within a light year that would have passed on the beer, though….I just don’t care for the taste of beer.
Janis gets piping hot tea and daiquari’s, Arlo gets a beer without a coozie. Something wrong with that picture. I am heading for 74 and still mow my own 3/4 acre yard. Good workout and I enjoy water while I’m at it.
I had a contract with TruGreen (not a lawn-mowing company, but lawn-related). I cancelled the contract when they told me my crepe myrtles (which I had removed a year ago) had a virus and needed treatment.
Some employee was just perusing their computer files and finding old folks to rip off.
If he does work in the backyard – I help. If he works in his woodshop – I am there to help (plus as he ages I feel more comfortable “supervising” a bit). If he washes the car, van or RV – guess who helps.
He used to do all the yard work but had gotten to the point that I had to help with the mowing. During Covid we lost track of mowing the grass as front of house is mostly our driveway and we did not go in the backyard where all year the first year. When he finally needed something from his workshop (aka garage) we saw the grass and decided to let it die and deal with it the following summer.
Of course this repeated the following summer. And the next. I looked at the back yard and then at him and told him we had to hire someone to mow. I called a neighbor and got the name and phone number of who they use.
When the fellow came to talk to us I did not recognize him. Turned out he was the fellow who drove his truck up onto our driveway to break up the snow pushed there by the snow plow so we could try to deal with clearing it! We had not seen who it was as the police had chased him away as he driving back and forth across the road, so we not had even been able thank him or offer to pay him. He was hired instantly!
At least husband will not get a heart attack from mowing and snow removal (hired him for that also) !

I’m about the last OG on the block still doing his own lawn but instead of a beer I do prefer a Gatorade or a Powerade.

Should have given Arlo, a Red Bull then he would paint the house, and reseal the blacktop driveway too.

Maybe this upcoming gulf storm will help A & J with the debate to move or stay. Prayers to all in the path.

It’s called “positive reinforcement”.

Our entire yard is a garden/orchard, plus a portion of the driveway. The latter area gets the most sun.

Animals are lucky — their trainers give them healthy treats!

Excuse me Jimmy; I made a comment on the webpage its first day back up. Today it says that neither my user name nor my e-mail are valid there.
I would have told you over there, but I can’t sign in to do so…….

I don’t need a beer Koozie. My “after grass cutting” beer is gone in two swallows.

No, Arlo, animal trainers use whips and chairs. Wives use bottles of beer! Much more civilized!
