He’s in a place where he’s fed meals and he sleeps the rest of the day. How is that different than any place else?
Have one just like that. Snuck out, ONCE, found the dog, next door, and will not repeat that error. Stands vigil at doors left open, like “DON’T THEY KNOW THERE’S A DOG OUT THERE!?!”
Does he have nine life sentences?
It happens. Our feral girl became institutionalized and now won’t go near an open door.

After feliney convictions for cat burglary, they decided to escape from Al”cat”raz petitentiary.
My neighbours have started opening their doors, and greeting my cats, when we walk down the apartment hall.
Even if I don’t want the cats (2 of them), to go out “hallway excursions”, they do it anyway.
Nah, he’ll wait and go out the front door !
