I have a source of homemade tamale here in town and stock up bigly for the freezer so I can eat them year-round. She only makes up big batches during the holidays for a little extra money and what a wonderful cook she is. Her empanadas are amazing as well, but they don’t last past the New Years party.
I saw a video of how Mexican families would pitch in to make a huge batch of tamales, assembly line style, to freeze them and have them all year. I decided I wanted to do that, so I asked several Mexican immigrant neighbors for tips. The tips I got was don’t do that, just go buy them.

How many years can frozen tamales be kept? Forever. It’s when they unfreeze that is a potential problem. :)
