At the risk of overanalyzing the comic, seems like that would hurt, and can’t she magic herself out of the tree, or it acting like the nullifying cork I see on unicorns now and then in My Little Pony?
“Every time”? Interesting. Last time Marigold punctured a tree, she didn’t have this much trouble. By the fact all four of her hooves are off the ground, she must have hit at an odd angle.
The amount of force being used to get Marigold’s horn out of the tree might have some unpleasant results.
Marigold’s rear might crush Florence’s glasses, and Florence horn is pointed right at the stem of Marigold’s tail. Meanwhile, Phoebe might get crushed by Florence if her hindlegs collapse.
Of course, since Florence and Phoebe are used to pulling Marigold out of jams like these, the two would probably be prepared for such an outcome.
Yes, Marigold has barely enough magic to release her from the tree… but that’s not taking into account the tree, itself. Right now, it’s performing its own magic mantra… “Hold on, baby, hold on!”
It really seems as if the best method would be for Phoebe to sit on Florence’s back and pull out Marigold’s horn using her two very useful hands. But perhaps she is enjoying the tug of war (unicorns vs tree) too much.

Is that a meta joke about how we’ll have to wait until after the sunday strip to hear it?

Gives me the same vibes as Pooh’s friends pulling him out of Rabbit’s hole.

It’s a spiral horn, so you should be able to spin Marigold around and unscrew her from the tree.

Don’t worry Phoebe. Now Gosei on the other hand would brush off your question the moment an emergency pops up.

They have all of next week to get her unstuck from the tree. If the recent pattern continues, next week will be reruns anyways.

As any carpenter wizard knows, if a “magic” claw will not work then get a “magic” hammer and pound the tree next to the horn.
