The term Cynic (a school of Hellenistic philosophy) comes from the word dog. A dog doesn’t obey human rules but does what feels natural to it — which is how the Cynics tried to live.
There were mixed reactions to the Cynics, but some really fun stories about them.
we had a dog that loved to play in the snow… I’d make miniature snowmen, and he’d storm in and stomp it down before I could build it up! If I could get him to sit and stay, I’d build a row of ‘em, and when I’d say go get ‘em, he’d go bonkers and stomp ’em all flat! Lol!!
Regarding all the comments relating to how many words our dogs can recognize — “On average, dogs can learn about 165 words. More intelligent breeds like the Border Collie, Standard Poodle, and German Sheperd can remember an average of 250 words. In contrast, regular untrained dogs can remember an average of 89. Dogs generally have a comprehension level akin to a two-year-old child.” — from Woofandbeyond.com

Dogs have a lot of things to do. Chase squirrels, sniff butts, eat, sleep, poop, chase squirrels, lick themselves, sniff butts, eat, sleep, poop…

If you believe that dogs can’t know “words”, search for “chaser the dog who knows 1000 words” and be surprised ;)

It’s a requirement to be in the way. That’s how we dogs keep an eye on you and confirm that you are aware of us.

Who remembers that old English show with an elderly lady who said “walkies” to her dogs?
