The explanation is quite simple. Back then, polyester fire fighter uniforms were found to be quite dangerous, and they had already blown their budget on the first batch.

Thus, the fund raising event for non-melting uniforms.

Although I am sure that she was a real looker, 60/70 years ago ;-))

There’s a bit of unexpected backstory!

I used to look at older people passing by and often imagine what they might have been like in their much younger and maybe wild days. Now that I have reached, somewhat, that point in my life I am not at all surprised at what Agnes found out about her GrandMa.

The people who were crazy animals when they were kids want their young relatives to think that they were quiet and respectful. The people who were boring nerds when they were in high school want the younger generation to think they were hellraisers.

Grandma taught Trout’s Mom everything she knows… ☺

I’m glad to hear that Grandma had some fun back in the day!

Now Agnes has leverage. Whenever she wants something from Grandma, she’ll just hum the “The Stripper”

Speaking of backstory, so far as I know there has never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever been any mention of Agnes’s parents or how she ended up living with Grandma…

I’ve always been curious, but the story is probably too depressing…

So easy to blow a younger person’s mind with a story or two from ‘60s,’70’s ,’80’s.

this explains some, but I still wonder what happened to Agnes’s mother

Sometime back we had a neighbor, we always smelled weed walking past her apartment. “But she’s an old lady” my daughter noted. I told she would have likely been late teens or early twenties had she been at Woodstock. Many of us have a “past.”
